Mass Communication students from IACT College in their final semester got their first-hand experience in running a live music event, AHM Records x Jameson Irish Whiskey: Girl Power held at The Bee on 26th July 2018.

This music event is a collaboration between a renowned local band, An Honest Mistake Records, and Jameson Irish Whiskey. The night saw a great line-up of performance from R&B artist Nadhira, swing jazz band Fazz, acoustic duo Kita: Orang, rock band Skies Are Red and pop singer-songwriter Beverly Matujal, attended by 450 strong crowds.

“This is the first time we got the PR Campaign Strategies class to run a live music event where tattoos and alcohol are involved,” said PR lecturer Jonathan Yip. “However, the students were instructed on professional etiquette and protocols to ensure a successful project,” he added.

Besides running the show, IACT students also spread awareness on female empowerment in the event. They approached female-fronted bands and leading female brands like Kiehl’s and Forever 21 to sponsor door gift items for the guests that night.

Through their partnership with the organizers, IACT students got to apply the PR strategies they learned in class. This experience enhances their understanding of the subject, also presented them with various opportunities that pave way into their PR career, especially in the area of artiste management, client management, and event management.
