FiTA Wave Short Film Competition

Award Announcement on 12th June 2019 at Dewan Agong Tuanku Canselor (DATC), UiTM Shah Alam

“Sometimes, our students need to get out of their comfort zone!”, said Jacinta Erang Kuleh, one of IACT’s broadcasting lecturers.
Jacinta and her colleague, Azizul Rahman guided a group of senior broadcasting students from the Production Management and Script Writing class this semester, and the students were given an assignment to shoot a short film with the theme: Development of Society. Not only it was their first assignment under the subject, it was also for FiTA Wave Short Film competition.
The competition was organised by FiTA (Fakulti Filem, Teater dan Animasi) in partnership with FINAS (National Film Development Corporation Malaysia), Yayasan Khazanah and Kementerian Pelajaran Tinggi (KPT). All 4 short films from that group of students made it to Top 15 with one short film ‘Thirty-Four’ ranked 8th place. Even though the students did not win top 3 ranks, IACT College is indeed proud of their work and effort. According to one of the production teams, Cactus Production, they did learn a lot throughout the process
“We worked hard to produce this short film in 3 weeks from pre to post production. Though we didn’t get to win this time, we are genuinely happy for those who won FiTA short film awards. We choose to learn from our failure and will come back stronger”
