Amanda Tan is giving the opening speech for the grand launching
IACT alumni Amanda Tan Wen Zhen (@cxpturingsouls on Instagram) held her first grand launching for ‘I’m More’ Exhibition on the 17th May 2019 at Jaya Shopping Centre. Amanda has just graduated last April with a Diploma in Mass Communication. She is a self-taught photographer who focuses mostly on conceptual photography and portraits. It all started when she first held a camera at the age of 14 and took it seriously as a career when she was 19.
A total of 47 pictures and stories are exhibited
‘I’m More’ is an empowerment movement created by Amanda herself as a safe space and platform for people who were stereotyped or labelled by the society to share their stories and experiences. It also allows people to connect and know that they are not alone. The main message from the exhibition is for the society to understand that they are not defined by anyone and be true to themselves.
Family, friends and clients could be seen gathering for the opening speech

Among the questions that was asked during the interview, Amanda focused on the challenges faced by her. She said “The hardest part was to find sponsors for the exhibition but luckily I found a photographer who actually owns her own studio and that was how I got the sponsors for the prints”. What a relief! Other than that, she also had to ask consent from the participants in order to exhibit their pictures and stories. Overall, it was a successful event and many people came to support.
The exhibition will continue from the 17th to the 30th May from 10am to 10pm. If you have not drop by, do come and show some support!
